Saraswati Puja 2026

The Pursuit of Knowledge and the Breath of Spring

  • 10:34 am - January 22, 2026

SACAV: The Dawn of Wisdom In the Hindu calendar, the arrival of Vasant Panchami (the fifth day of spring) is synonymous with the worship of Maa Saraswati. Draped in pristine white, seated on a swan, and playing the celestial Veena, She represents the free flow of knowledge, consciousness, and creativity. At SACAV, we believe that education is the greatest wealth, and on this day, we gather to honor the source of that wealth.

Join us in celebrating the divine spirit of knowledge, music and art at our Saraswati Puja

Invitation off SACAV’s Saraswati Puja 2026

Hatey Khori: A Sacred Beginning One of the most heart-touching traditions we host at SACAV is Hatey Khori (Chalk in Hand). For many Bengali families in Australia, this is a milestone event. It is the ritual where a toddler is guided to write their first alphabet on a slate in front of the Goddess. It marks the formal beginning of their journey into education, ensuring that their learning is always guided by ethics, art, and divine grace.

The Student’s Vow Saraswati Puja holds a unique place for our students. On this day, we observe the tradition of placing our books, pens, and musical instruments at the feet of the Mother. For 24 hours, students take a break from formal study, surrendering their tools of learning to the Goddess and seeking her blessings for clarity, memory, and success in their upcoming Victorian school terms.

Celebrating in Victoria Living in Australia, we take pride in how our festivals evolve while keeping their soul intact. Our celebration at SACAV features:

The Pushpanjali: A morning floral offering where the community chants in unison.

The Cultural Program: Where our youth perform Rabindra Sangeet, classical dances, and poetry recitals.

The Bhog: A simple, sattvic meal of Khichuri, Labra, and Beguni—a taste of tradition shared by the entire community.

A Message for the Modern World In an age of information overload, Saraswati Puja reminds us to seek Wisdom over mere Data. It teaches us that art, music, and science are all sacred paths. As we celebrate in Victoria this year, let us pray that the Goddess grants us the discernment of the swan—to filter out the noise and focus on the truth.
